Stairway To Heaven

Lyrics by Cory Smith, music by Led Zeppelin

If I think of a song

That goes for too long

It would have to be Stairway to Heaven

While the music is grand

I just don’t understand

Why the words in the song have no meaning

Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

Here’s our short spoof of Stairway to Heaven

I say “short” because we

left out a verse or three

The original had seven verses

And we do overlook

Lines like “tree by the brook”

That gave Led Zeppelin’s song so much beauty

Ooh, it makes me wonder

Ooh, did we make a blunder?

We skipped the parts about the “piper”, and the “songbird”

Ours has no “Spring cleans for May Queens”

But there is one thing that we copied, from Led Zeppelin

We don’t try to make the words rhyme

But we had a problem

Oh, yeah

See there’s an awesome guitar solo, and it’s a long one

Two people wanted to play it

We had an argument that almost broke the band up

Good thing we came to a compromise

Here goes…

[solo]

Here comes the part with real high notes

And when we sing, it hurts our throats

So now we keep Led Zeppelin’s flow

But sing it one whole octave low

Now that we’re almost to the end

You may have noticed there’s a trend

The real song made no sense it’s true

But ours turned out meaningless too, yeah

At least it rocked and it rolled

And that’s the real point of “Stairway to Heaven”
